Foundation Programs

The Foundation has established a number of 'programs' to enhance its ability to raise funds and encompass watershed residents.

1) Memorial Grove Program

Under this program, individuals can purchase a tree in memory of a loved one.  Trees are planted in various Memorial Forests located across the watershed. Thousands of trees have been planted since the program began in 1991.

For more information on this program, check out the Memorial Grove Brochure.

2) Celebration Forest Program

The Saugeen Valley Conservation Foundation and Saugeen Conservation have partnered together to provide people with an opportunity of dedicating a mature tree to that someone special.  The dedication could be for any number of special occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, graduations, etc.

Each tree in the Celebration Forest, located at Sulphur Spring Conservation Area, is marked with a permanent plaque which includes the individuals  name, occasion and date.  Trees are priced according to size.

3) ThinkRecycle Program

Under this program, the Foundation receives funds through Think Recycle for the submission of used ink cartridges and cell phones.  A number of organizations assist the Foundation with the collection of these products, including member municipalities, local businesses, schools and retailers.

It's an excellent way to ensure that these items are properly disposed of and/or re-used and kept out of landfills.  Some of the items, for example, are refurbished, (eg., phones), and sent to third world counties.

See ThinkRecycle for more information.
