What is Environmental Planning?

ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING AND REGULATIONS are two of the most effective measures in providing and maintaining a well balanced healthy watershed, for all those concerned.

Our Mandate:  "to prevent loss of life, property damage and social disruption from flood and erosion processes."

As a result, the purpose of this program is to prevent problems for new development and to protect sensitive natural features and areas, as well as minimize development related impacts.

By locating development outside floodplains and a safe distance away from eroding streambanks, residents can be assured of their own safety and protection for their property.

Environmental Planning also encourages a healthy watershed by preventing the destruction of wetlands and other important habitats.
